Harmatan Fine Leather
Only Sumac and other natural materials are used in the tannage of this fine quality range of leathers. These skins are hand polished and finished to show the beauty of the natural grain.
The natural character of each skin is maintained — no pigment finishes are added and no grain correction is made.

The three grades explained
Grade 1. Every part of the skin is usable with no marks. Increasingly rare to source.
Grade 2. A small number of naturally occurring marks, mainly towards the outside edges. Suitable for full binding work.
Grade 3. A greater number of natural marks and scratches, still very usable for small full, half or quarter bindings. Send us a cut size or template and we may be able to save you money with this grade.
All skins are sourced free-range and traded fairly. Leather is a natural product — grain variation, growth and bush marks are signs of genuine natural grain, not machine embossing.
